Düzgün, 2008

‘Perspektif eğitimi, ehlileştirmeden başka bir şey değildir.’
-Pavel Florenski

Straight, 2008.

The focus of this photographic series is on personal perspective. It is broadly accepted that photography offers a unique way of seeing. When seen as a series of larger prints each image must be seen from my perspective; that is the perspective of the photographer.

This effect is achievable through the use of Trapezoid frames which provide a singular view of the world. A view which mirrors my own personal way of seeing.

For this reason there is always an element of risk surrounding Pictorial or photographic perspective.

.

During the course of my work on this series i came to a new understanding about the workings of most photographic software programmes. Namely that none of the software recognises trapezoid or crooked frames because the programmes themselves are always in a uniform and straight format. In my opinion this a technical flaw in the software which shifts the perspective of the viewer away from that of the photographer. All forms of visual technology are constructed with a seperate and deliberate ideology which shapes our way of thinking and therefore seeing.

It is my intention to challenge this technological control by maintaining the origonal and personal prspective of my work in all visual media.
